Class Experience

🛡️ Class Description:

Gear up for an immersive combat adventure where you become the hero of the quest! In the action begins just 10 minutes into the session, placing students at the heart of the lesson. Led by our expert Dungeon Masters, this class focuses on hands-on experience, teaching new players combat mechanics, teamwork, and problem-solving skills through a thrilling one-session adventure.

Each session we will play a 90 minute adventure. Students will use premade, level 1 and 2 characters, which will be provided upon sign up.

🎯 Conceptual Learning:
Explore game mechanics by applying them to real in-game scenarios! From combat strategies to saving throws, skill and ability checks, and earning experience points, this class provides a comprehensive understanding of D&D fundamentals.

🧙 Expectations:

-Come prepared with character sheets and dice (we provide sheets in the welcome message, students can use online dice)
-Foster a supportive environment, collaborating with fellow students to achieve mission objectives.
-Prohibit in-game attacks against player characters/teammates.
-Punctuality is key; students arriving more than 10 minutes late won't be admitted to maintain the session's flow.

Note to parents/students:

You may choose to allow your child to have access to the D&D Beyond website (dndbeyond.com) to assist in their creation and use of characters or other content for use in this class.  Use of and access to the D&D Beyond website is not required for this class, and it is solely within your discretion as the parent whether to allow your child to access the D&D Beyond website. Lesson 1:
Defend the Caravan Adventure
 🏹 Adventure Overview:

Goblins and bandits threaten peaceful travelers, pillaging caravans en route to Neverwinter. Your mission? Defend one of these caravans using your wits and, if necessary, weapons, ensuring the safe arrival of the travelers. Immerse yourself in an interactive learning experience where "in-game" decisions shape your understanding of Dungeons & Dragons mechanics.

Lesson 2:
The Missing Crystal
 🔮 Adventure Overview:

Return to Phandelin after a perilous journey to Neverwinter, where you encounter travelers with a mysterious cargo. The twist? Something invaluable has vanished—the Missing Crystal. Hired to investigate, you have until daybreak to uncover the truth and prevent the village's destruction. Will you save the day?

Parental Guidance
Roleplaying games offer a creative "sandbox" in which participants can engage in imaginative problem solving. Fantasy violence will not be directly depicted, but the possibilities of this within the game will be discussed. Students may wish to explore ideas related to their characters that involve in-game "weapons" and "spells" for the use of "in-game" violence.
Supply List
Students will need to select a Level 1 character. We provide pregenerated characters upon sign up.

No evil alignment allowed, players must work with the group. 

Students will need paper and pencil. They will use the online dice roller during the session. Some may wish to purchase the D&D Player Handbook for follow up reading. A link is provided for reference.

The RPG Club has organized and taught groups of Dungeons and Dragons for over 5,000 students and community members, running games professionally for private clients between the ages of 8-70 years old. Our teachers and GMs train together on best practices, are almost all traditional classroom teachers, and work to ensure an excellent experience for each child, every class.
