Learn to Read

This class is designed to teach young children the foundational skills needed to become confident readers. Focused on phonics, CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words, and reading decodable books, it offers an engaging and supportive environment where children can develop early literacy skills. Phonics lessons introduce letter sounds and their combinations, helping children understand the relationship between written letters and spoken words. This approach enables them to decode unfamiliar words and build strong reading fluency.
Each session will include hands-on activities that make learning CVC words fun and interactive. Children will practice blending and segmenting simple words like cat, dog, and sun, reinforcing their ability to recognize patterns and connect sounds. Games, flashcards, and movement-based activities will keep students engaged while they strengthen these essential skills.
To apply their learning in context, children will read decodable books together as a group. These books are specially designed to align with the phonics and word patterns being taught, allowing children to experience success and gain confidence in their reading abilities. Teachers will guide students through each story, emphasizing comprehension and encouraging them to read aloud, ask questions, and make predictions.
This class offers a well-rounded introduction to reading by combining phonics instruction, practical word-building exercises, and interactive storytime. It’s an ideal stepping stone for young learners, providing the tools they need to develop literacy skills while fostering a lifelong love of reading.






CLASS POLICIES

Refund Policy:

We strictly adhere to Outschool's refund/reschedule policy for all of our classes. This means that once a class has been paid for, there will be no deviation from Outschool's guidelines. We do not offer refunds or rescheduling outside of what Outschool allows. 

Camera Policy:

All students are required to keep their camera turned on during the entire class. The only exception is those that have been verified by Outschool and have the verification badge.

In compliance with Outschool's policies, we do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former families on any social networking site (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.). We also do not provide or ask for any personal information such as email address or phone numbers.
