Beginner - Advanced Level
In this 8-week course, many of the typical 5th-grade skills will be covered. Each lesson will be 55 minutes long and will meet 3 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday). We will begin by working on different skills such as fractions, polygons, units of time, area and volume, coordinate grids, order of operations, and we will venture into algebraic thinking. I have outlined the specific lessons in the class syllabus. I will utilize online curriculums such as Nearpod and Khan, video clips, games/puzzles, and some self-created. Lessons will consist of a mixture of teacher/student-led discussions and interactions.
Learning Goals
Students will be learning crucial 5th grade skills such as, but not limited to: adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, simplifying decimals and fractions, converting units of time, identifying polygons, etc... This is a complete 5th grade curriculum.

I graduated with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and have been a teacher for 25 years. I have taught in the classroom of brick and mortar schools and have most recently been teaching online. The students I have taught vary in age from PreK to 8th, but I spent 6 consecutive years teaching 5th graders. My students have ranged in ability levels and have spanned the globe reaching 4 different continents.
