I just loved teaching science to students! This course can be taken for the purpose of introducing or for reteaching the 4th grade science standards. Every 2- to 3-weeks the classes will work on a different theme. (Unless otherwise noted.)

The students will interact with the teacher and their peers as they learn, investigate and discuss various science topics. They will engage in hands on activities to further imbed these concepts into their memory. Topic activities will contain educational materials (video clips and books) as well as other mediums that are appropriate for that lesson. **This is a very active class that does require some independence. If your child needs more adaptive assistance, please plan on sitting in on the class. I don't want anyone to miss out just because he/she needs extra in-person help!

NGSS STANDARDS TO BE TAUGHT THIS YEAR:

4-PS3 Energy
-- Relationship between the speed of an object to the energy of that object.
-- Energy can be transferred from place to place by sound, light, heat, and electric currents.
-- Changes in energy that occur when objects collide.
-- Discuss devices that converts energy from one form to another.

4-LS1 From Molecules to Organisms: Structures and Processes
-- Plants and animals have internal and external structures that function to support survival, growth, behavior, and reproduction.
-- Animals receive different types of information through their senses, process the information in their brain, and respond to the information in different ways.

4-ESS1 Earth’s Place in the Universe
-- Patterns in rock formations and fossils in rock layers explain how the landscape changed over time.

4-ESS2 Earth’s Systems
-- Describe effects of weathering or the rate of erosion by water, ice, wind, or vegetation.
-- Analyze and interpret data from maps to describe patterns of Earth’s features.

4-ESS3 Earth and Human Activity
-- Describe that energy and fuels are derived from natural resources and their uses affect the environment.
-- Generate and compare multiple solutions to reduce the impacts of natural Earth processes on humans.

Waves and their Applications in Technologies for Information Transfer - THIS WILL BE COMBINED WITH GRADES 5-6 SCIENCE.

3-5-ETS1 Engineering Design
