Class Experience

Children will learn the name of each animal in Spanish.
Topics that will be covered are: Animal's activities, food preference, sleeping patterns, color, and much more.
Class will start with a greeting- Spanish song. Children will greet in Spanish.
Teacher will introduce the Animal of the day and begin teaching using PowerPoint presentation, flash card and animal toys.
Throughout the presentation teacher will pause to ask a multiple choice or a yes/no questions.
My style of teaching is engaging children throughout the class. I want children to have fun and learn at the same time. Children will have the opportunity to predict or share their knowledge by giving possible answers.
At the end of class we will watch a small video of the animal and children may share anything related to animals they may have at home.
The class will be 70% Spanish and using English when necessary. I am keeping it simple and not using difficult words. I want them to learn about the animals but also learn Spanish that they can practice at home.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I like to make learning fun. I received my Associates degree in Social and Behavioral Science and my AA certificate in Child Development. I have a Bachelor degree in Social Work. I’ve worked for 5 years as a teacher assistant in a pre-school classroom where I learned the importance of play and learning for children 3 to 5 years old. I’ve worked for over 10 years in an early head start program providing early childhood education to families. My passion is to provide a learning experience where children can engage and have fun through music and playing. Using gestures, sounds, games and music to maintain children’s attention and help them learn new concepts.
