Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
In this class, young learners (ESL students are welcome, too!) can pick any of the fun, educational games in my collection to play along with. We will vote on which game to play as soon as greetings are done. If there's a tie, I'll use a spinner application to choose for us.

Games can feature math, reading, memory, shapes, patterns, object-matching, object-sorting, counting, riddles, and search & find puzzles.

After that, depending on the game, we'll either play as a goup by having learners call out their answers, circle their answers with the screen-draw tool, or take turns playing each round. If the learner needs a hint, I'm happy to help them in any way they need, and some of the games allow me to adjust the difficulty for each player. I try to fit the gameplay to the learner's level. (If your learner is above the recommended age level, but you think they would enjoy this class anyway, they are welcome to try it out!)

My Teaching Style:

Demonstration and communication are my favorite tools to use in class. If the learner needs a hint, and some of the games allow me to adjust the difficulty for each player. I try to fit the gameplay to the learner's level.
Students are welcome to speak up at any time during this class. We're here to have a party!

Game list:
(A copy of this list with pictures will be provided on the classroom page upon signup, to help little ones pick the game they want to play. At the beginning of class, I will pull up the full list in a screen share so everyone can vote for which game they want and figure out the screen-drawing tool if they want.)

I Spy: Junior | In this game, we need to find all the items listed in the poem.

Millie's Math House | Millie the Moo Cow has invited us to her house, to play lots of fun counting, shapes, and math games.

Little Monster Private Eye: The Smelly Mystery | An evil mastermind has been switching all the smells in Monsterville around, and Little Monster and Detective Kerploppus are on the case!

ODS: Twins' Challenge | The twins have invited us to play memory-match with them! Can you find all the twin shapes?

Class expectations:

As is Outschool policy, I do not allow bullying or teasing. Everyone is welcome in my classroom and learning and creativity are always something to be encouraged.
I do not ask students to remain on camera for more than the initial class check-in required by Outschool policy.
If your learner has any unique needs to be accomodated, please let me know! I'm happy to help and want this class to be as fun and imaginative as possible for every student.

Required Experience:

For native English speakers, no experience is required.

For ESL students, this class will be more fun for students with at least a little English practice, but it's not necessary. If they don't know the vocabulary enough to follow the riddles, I can show them pictures of the item they need to find and they can practice repeating the words that way.

Learning Goals

I Spy: Junior - Features riddles, poems, search & find puzzles, patterns, and object-sorting. All puzzles are fairly easy and learners are invited to work together and use the screen-draw tool to circle the objects when they find them.

Millie's Math House - Features counting, patterns, object-sorting, shapes, and sizes. Levels can be easily changed to range from listening and learning to answering questions, and answers set to reach from 1-10, 11-20, or 21-30.

Little Monster Private Eye: The Smelly Mystery | Features story-telling, reading, and logic. Learners are encouraged to look at the clues together in the final scene to figure out whodunnit.

ODS: Twins' Challenge | Features both simple and complex object-matching. Levels can be easily changed for each player, ranging from simple shapes and numbers to dominoes and continents.

All games contain content and humor safe for very young learners. Masks are welcome, however, masks should be removed for identification during the first four minutes of class to meet safety and privacy policies. Please note that costumes will be vetted by the educator to ensure that they met Outschool standards (secular, age-appropriate, etc.). Thank you!
