US Grade 2 - 5
In this 30 minute week long course students will read Zoey and Sassafras Dragon and Mashmellow, the first book in the series by Asia Citro. We will start the first day by introducing ourselves. After the first day we will start each session by reviewing what was read the day before. Then, we will read three or four chapters each day. We will stop along the way to review tricky vocabulary words. I will share my screen so the children can read along on the screen. Everyone will take turns reading, including me. If your child prefers to listen and participate in the retelling portion of the class please contact me prior to the class starting. This class is great for first, second, third and fourth graders. I prefer the children to keep their cameras on, especially when reading, if this is an issue, please contact me and we can make alternative arrangements. Summary cited on Google: "When her mom is on a work trip and an injured baby dragon appears, Zoey and her cat Sassafras have to figure out how to help it recover. They use science and follow the same processes over and over trying to get their new dragon friend, Marshmallow, healthy enough to survive in the wild."
Learning Goals
Students will build their reading comprehension and vocabulary skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
New York Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hi! I'm a certified educator hailing from New York with a Master's in Special Education and a Bachelor's in Childhood Education. With experience across all elementary grades, I currently nurture young minds in first grade. Transitioning to distance learning, I leveraged Zoom to teach reading, math, science, social studies, and conduct engaging class meetings from March to June. Despite missing face-to-face interactions, I fostered connections through inventive activities like pet/stuffed animal show and tell, phonics-based scavenger hunts, and guided drawing sessions, ensuring learning remained enjoyable.
I designed and executed an enriching year-long fairy tale curriculum, exploring multicultural and traditional tales from various perspectives, nurturing critical thinking among students. I thrive on building lasting relationships with my students and eagerly anticipate the opportunity to meet you!
