Do you have awesome Pokémon cards you want to show off? Come and learn with us! In this class we will learn how to sort words in alphabetical order using the names of our Pokemon. Being able to put words in alphabetical order is an organizational skill that is often not taught in the classroom, but being able to master it is essential (especially if you have a lot of cards you want to keep organized!). Students will need to bring 8-10 cards to class to use in the lesson. We will go through each letter of the alphabet and students will search their cards and order them accordingly. At the end of the lesson, students will complete a practice set on their own to assess understanding. Students will need to print out the handout attached to sort on the alphabet line or they can draw lines from the Pokemon to the letters. We will go over our answers together to end the class. Looking for something more challenging? I also offer parts of speech and writing classes that are Pokemon themed! Looking forward to seeing you in class!
Learning Goals
Students will improve their word structure knowledge and letter recognition by listing words in alphabetical order through sorting the names of Pokemon.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Baylor University - Waco, Texas
Hello! Mrs. Alison here! I am a certified K-12 ELA/ESL writing teacher for the state of Texas with over eleven years of teaching experience in the classroom and online and degrees in psychology, linguistics, and sociology. I am also a published children's book author! Mix that all together and you have someone who desires to see the next generation of learners be equipped to change the world through writing - and be who they were made to be!
My “Be You & Become a Better Writer” classes are for learners between the ages of 8-12 who want to embrace who they are while learning to become better at writing. It is my desire to have learners feel the freedom to express themselves through writing while developing the skills to articulate it, whether they are writing fiction stories, poems, essays, or even personal experiences. I believe everyone has a story to tell and a voice to share. I want learners to know the potential each one of them has when they put pen to paper (or fingers to keys).
In my classroom, learners will think critically and be able to communicate clearly through writing all while being creative and passionate about the things they love!
I love meeting learners from all over the world and getting to learn from them as well. So far I have taught learners from over 35 countries and all but 3 states!
I am looking forward to growing and learning along with all the learners in my classroom!
