What is clogging? In his Ongoing live introduction to clogging, students will learn the history of clogging, the key steps in the genre, and how adding colorful and energetic choreography to the basics can build a fun dance!

Class experience

The goal is for students to understand the foundation of clog dance, its origin and the evolution of the genre that allows dance to explore more "up to date" movements, choreography and music by combining the basics with creativity. They will learn rhythm and musicality and increase their coordination, muscle memorization and spatial awareness.
Clogging is one my favorite styles of dance! I appreciated growing into the country music genre and I am thankful for my artistic director for allowing me and my team to branch out and clog to almost anything! That is the greatest thing about dance - diversity!

Dance has so many things to offer and I can appreciate how much I was able to incorporated in to my real life. I am grateful to have learned life skills and lessons, such as the importance of relationships, commitment, exercise, challenges, integrity, sportsmanship, and so much more. I believe that everyone can benefit from dance. It has a way of encouraging individuality, and I do my best to provide tools and knowledge students need to explore their individuality and the art within through movement. I humbly admit I have never been injured in my dance career and that I support and believe it is due to technique and the proper ways to present movement; all of which I pour into my students.
While it is a bit challenging to learn the clogging dance genre without clogging shoes, students are allowed to take class with tennis shoes or sneakers of their choice. Clogging is best down and experienced with the clogging shoes, however, wearing a tennis shoe or sneaker gives students an opportunity to explore the footwork.
