YouTube Gamers: Record & Edit Like a Pro!

TO MY PREVIOUS LEARNERS:
This type of class content has been listed as a one-time class previously, and I have had a class just for recording, and just for editing. I have had a fast track version and a version for beginners. This is new and improved course and combines all the needs from all previous gaming classes classes into this multi-day class. If you have taken both my Record class and Edit classes from March 2022 to July 2022, you might not need to take this class.

However, if you have only taken my recording class or just my editing class, or if you have taken my Record and Edit class in February 2022 or earlier, you might benefit from taking this course as I have many new and improved content in this course! 


DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
In class 1, we will learn how to record off a PC using the free recording software called OBS (Open Broadcaster Software). Learners will see how to connect 4 different sources: game screen, microphone, game audio, and webcam. 
In class 2, we will learn how to edit off a PC using the editing software called Wondershare Filmora. In this class, learners will learn 5 fun and simple editing tricks that will make their gaming videos look professional, like their favorite gamers.

DEVICE:
This multi-day course will show how to record and edit using a computer (Windows OR Apple). 

PARENT SUPERVISION:
I highly recommend having a grown-up near by (but off camera) to offer assistance with any tech issues your learner may encounter during class.

TROUBLESHOOTING:
Having taught over 1,600 learners this content, I have a lot of troubleshooting experience but I cannot always guarantee all tech issues will be resolved in class. If a learner has an issue that I cannot help solve during class, I will contact that learner after class and will do my best to help by offering tips through private message or in the online classroom. 

RECOMMENDED SET-UP FOR CLASS:
Since this class involves using software on your computer, it can be a little difficult to join the class on the same computer (monitor) that the recording and editing software is on. 

        *Option 1 - Ideally, having a computer with two monitors (one to view the class, one to work on the recording/editing 
        process) would be best. 

        *Option 2 - If you do not have this set-up available, the next best option would be to join the class on a tablet, or other 
        computer, while having your main device setup and ready to start working on during class.

        *Option 3 - If you only have one device available for the class, worse case scenario, you will need to toggle back and forth 
        between watching my demonstration on the zoom session, and then bringing up the recording and editing software to 
        follow the instruction. While this is not ideal, many students have successfully completes these classes with this format.

RECORD CLASS:

Before class, make sure to download OBS on a device in your home that has a Windows, Mac, or Linux operating system. Link is in the materials section below. This device will need to be what you play your game on. Once OBS is downloaded, I recommend finding a PC game to practice the recording process during class. During class we will discuss alternatives to PC games, like how to record off a game system, tablet, phone, etc. Resources will be offered for the alternatives but we will not be able to connect these devices during class. Make sure to have a PC game ready for class.

INFORMATION FOR MAC USERS:
When using the program OBS, often Mac users struggle with accessing their game screen and audio. If you plan on attending this class with a Mac and will have OBS downloaded and ready to use. Please adjust your privacy settings on your computer in order to allow OBS to access your computer. Attached are two screenshots that should be helpful!

EDIT CLASS:

Before class, make sure to download Wondershare filmora on the same device that you have OBS downloaded on. This will make the recording and editing process MUCH easier! Software link is in the materials section below. Learners will be able to use a short test recording that we did from the previous recording class, or if they have practiced recording after class or have another video they would like to use, they are welcome to use any video they have available to practice editing. 

We will learn 4 or 5 different editing tools, depending on time frame. We will learn how to cut out clips, create an intro video, zoom in and out of clips, and more!

This program offer a "try for free" download option that I recommend for this class. If learner and grown-up decides this is the program to use long-term for editing, there is an annual subscription you will need to pay for in order to get rid of the Filmora watermark that is on downloaded videos. I always recommend that you try the program for FREE before you commit to paying for anything.

These 2 courses are meant to have hands-on learning for each individual, however, if a student comes to class without the appropriate software, they are welcome to watch the demonstration and practice later using the recording and slides from class. 

I will be using a Windows computer for these demonstrations. If your child has an apple product, they are still more than welcome to attend if they feel they can transfer the skills they learned to their apple device.
