Class Experience

For this ongoing class, learners can meet with Ms. Kelsey 1:1 to discuss a plan on growing their YouTube channel weekly. Learners are not required to take my YouTube camp (Starting Your YouTube Channel: The First Steps) to have the 1:1 meetings. However, learners should be able to have a YouTube channel account to get started on meetings.

What you will need before the start of the meetings (with a grown-up's help):
-YouTube Channel account (Free)
-Canva account (Free)
-Wondershare Filmora (Free download before class starts)
-Screencastify (Free)
-Filming equipment (if you have it): Camera (or a phone that can film is fine), ring light, microphone, a designated area for filming content, and a tripod for your camera or phone

Here is what we will discuss each week:

Week 1: We will discuss your niche and plan out the content you want to release on your channel. We will also discuss using SEO to help boost viewers and subscribers to your channel. We will also use Canva to create or modify the theming of your channel.

Week 2: We will go over the YouTube analytics and using the YouTube research function to see what other viewers are watching on YouTube. We will also go over how to edit videos, which can include adding/deleting clips, adding music and sound effects, green screens, etc.

Week 3: We will go over the importance of your YouTube community, and why interacting with your community is important to your channel. We will also talk about how to respond to both positive and negative comments on videos.

Week 4: We will discuss how to get monetized on your channel, and what that can look like when your channel does start to monetize.

**Disclosure on Online Safety: I will be screensharing YouTube, Canva, Wondershare Filmora, and Screencastify during class sessions. Throughout the class, I will be sharing and reminding the learner about protecting your personal information online and what to do about cyberbullying. A grown-up's help will be required when creating the channel on your own, uploading videos, reacting to positive/negative comments, etc.
Learning Goals
The learner will be able to grow their YouTube channel by understanding what the YouTube analytics mean in terms of their channel growth, modifying theming of their channel, getting creative with thumbnails and editing videos for their channel, and how to communicate within their YouTube community.
