US Grade 6 - 8
This ongoing club is devoted to beating writer's block! Young creative writers of any genre will have a chance to flex their skills with fun prompts and to share their work with new friends. Each week, students will practice their writing skills with short writing prompts. Students will learn tips and tricks for finding inspiration, editing their work, and enticing their readers while testing out different genres and styles of writing. Students will have time to workshop pieces they've been working on with their peers as well as time to work on short prompts: verbal, written, and visual! This club is primarily creative; while students will learn skills that will surely help their academic writing, the goal in our club is to gradually improve each writer's confidence and to have fun! The schedule for the first 4 weeks in the first session of the class will have the following themes: Week 1: Writing About Yourself Week 2: Creative Characters Week 3: Stunning Scenery Week : Making a Metaphor
