In this ongoing class, students will bring writing they've crafted and share it with friends. We will address a writing "tip of the week", practice our writing, and share either our in-class piece or other recent writing.

Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
Class will start with a brief introduction and welcome statement so we can all feel comfortable in the virtual space together. A writing "tip of the week" will be shared and briefly discussed, with a few examples. Students will then have an opportunity to write freestyle or to a creative prompt for about seven minutes. Inspirational music will be played during the writing time to get us all in "the zone". Next, students will choose to share either a writing they've done recently outside of class or their in-class piece. Students will provide positive feedback to each other in a roundtable style. Depending on class size, we may delve into the additional writing pieces or share and brainstorm ideas for future writing. During idea brainstorming, we will explore various organizational structures for planning quality writing.

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a middle school Language Arts teacher for 20 years, I worked with large and small groups, as well as individuals, on crafting and developing their writing. I look forward to helping young learners develop new writing ideas, apply quality writing standards, and learn new skill to take their writing to the next level. It is my greatest hope to foster the passion for writing and encourage young authors to build their ideas with descriptive, strong words so others can experience their imaginings along with them.
