Parental Guidance
Parents should be aware that while Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) can be a fantastic and educational game for kids aged 8-12, it does involve some mature themes such as combat, magic, and fantasy violence. Additionally, the game relies on reading and math skills, so younger players may require some guidance or simplified rules. The instructor will guide the group to be sure that gameplay remains age-appropriate and comfortable for all of the participants.
Supply List
Optional: a dice set appropriate for use during DnD.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Shiny Happy Kids teachers have been working with students ages 3-18 in a variety of settings, from art schools and STEAM labs to libraries, summer camps, forest school, and even RPG game tables. One thing we all have in common is a dedication to creating safe, positive, inclusive spaces and experiences where kids can connect, experiment, be challenged, share their passions, and just be their wonderful selves. We want you to SHINE!

From Mr. B:
I've been playing D&D for about seven years now, starting back in 2016 as a player, but quickly transitioned into DMing back in 2017. I've DMed many homebrew campaigns before, creating my own storylines, NPCs, monsters, and enemies for players to combat in game. Storytelling and writing are huge passions of mine, and D&D is one of the best methods of getting audiences invested into a story, as you make audiences become quite literally apart of the narrative that you created for them to experience. I'm also experienced in teaching online D&D classes to kids, as I've DMed online D&D campaigns for about a year for another Outschool organization know as Trammell Classes. The age range for the kids I DMed for was 9-14, and while teaching at Trammell Classes, my D&D courses received multiple 5-star reviews from parents. A lot of D&D is also centered around team-building and making connections with other players, so in my online D&D courses I try my best to create scenarios in game where players will have to work together to overcome an obstacle.
