Prerequisite for this class is Youkoso beginning Japanese. ( completed 12 weeks) Or for students who has learned basic Japanese language elsewhere. Each week starts with a brief review of the previous lesson. Questions and discussions that are related to what we are learning are always welcome. Each students will participate by listening and speaking. This course will provide the basic conversational experiences, a lot of vocabularies, and hiragana ( reading and writing diacritic marks, contracted sounds, double consonants, long vowels ), simple grammar, and creating simple sentences using nouns, verbs, adjectives and prepositions. It is a fun and friendly class that should promote students' interest. The goal for this class is that learning a new language can open up a whole new world of literature, movies, music, games, anime, manga and other media to enjoy. Learning the language itself helps in understanding the history and the cultural differences. I would like to help students not only achieve the skills in the language, but also help their exploration of the country, Japan. This course is an extension of Youkoso beginning Japanese 1 and taking students to the next level.
Homework Offered
Usually I don't give students homework. However, it is very important for students to review what they have learned in each lesson. That would help students to progress faster and have greater understanding when they proceed with lessons. Since this class is level 2, without spending time on reviewing and practicing lessons, it would be difficult to keep up. Watching recordings is strongly suggested.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
