Class Experience
Shared Reading is an interactive reading experience that occurs when students join in or share the reading of a book or other text while guided and supported by a teacher. Shared Reading supports a balanced literacy instructional approach and allows students to enjoy materials that they may not be able to read on their own. Students will develop foundational reading skills, including print concepts, phonics, and reading strategies. Students will improve their reading comprehension.
I am a certified elementary school teacher for grades K-6. I taught first grade for 6 years. I have been an elementary school librarian in a preschool-grade 2 school for 3 years. I have taught many children how to read and have used these shared reading strategies in my lessons for 10 years.
1 file available upon enrollmentStudents will receive a pdf file of the book each week. You can print it out if you'd like but it is not required for class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
