Welcome parents and students! As a former classroom teacher, current tutor, and homeschooling mom, I have used just about every method of learning to help a variety of students achieve their educational goals. My experience ranges from teaching the youngest children to read to teaching my former high school students research and writing skills. I am excited to help your child become more confident in the following areas: Reading - phonics, sight words, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension Writing - grammar, sentence and paragraph structure, spelling, citations Math - addition, subtraction, grouping, place value, money, time Research Skills - gathering information, organizing information, sources, citations Our time together would be most productive if the student's specific skills and areas of concern are identified prior to class. I am happy to tailor the lesson to individual needs and concerns. Are there specific reading, writing, grammar concepts your child needs to be retaught? Does your child have a test to prepare for and need a study buddy? Is there homework we can complete together? Is there an essay that needs proofing? Does your child want to be part of a book club, but prefers one-on-one? We can do all these things together. If you are interested in this class, but do not see a day/time that fits your schedule, please contact me. I have some flexibility in my schedule. If you are interested in multiple days each week, you can sign up for more than one section. I will offer a one-time discount for students who sign up for more than one section per week. I look forward to meeting your child, helping them achieve their full potential, and celebrating their new love for learning! See you in the classroom! Typical Progression of Classes May Include (with reading as an example): Week of Jan 2: General Assessment of Skills and Areas in Need of Support (phonics) Week of Jan 9: Building on Skills (phonics), Addressing First Area of Support (CVC words) Week of Jan 16: Review and Build (with basic sight words) Week of Jan 23: Putting it all together (Fluency) *This is simply an example. I will address your child's specific needs.*

I have been teaching for over 15 years in various areas of education. I believe learning should be fun. I enjoy teaching reading, writing, and the English language. I also enjoy teaching classes that keep us moving - my kids are very active! My class offerings will include phonics/reading, writing, the English language (ESL, ELL) history and geography, art, and science. My one-on-one class offerings will include tutoring options in reading, writing, math, research projects, and the English language.
I have a Master's degree from the University of Rochester and a teaching license from the state of New York. I spent several years teaching high school level history courses to students ages 15-18, tutoring various subjects to students of all ages, and coaching. I have been teaching ESL online for over 2 years and enjoy the on-line format. I also currently homeschool our two children.
I enjoy spending time with family and seeing the excitement of discovery on my kids' faces when they learn something new. We enjoy reading, hiking, and exploring new adventures together. I hope you will join me on the next fun adventure!
