Students will learn beginner yoga poses, breathing techniques, and correct body alignment/posture. This class will be taught live and I will guide students through each pose. There is no previous yoga knowledge required. This is a basic beginner course. There will be no homework assigned. Learners are encouraged, not evaluated. Some of the basic yoga poses we will go through are downward dog, child's pose, tree, mountain, seated straddle, bound angle, and many more beginner-friendly poses. We will also work on our breathing techniques like ocean's breath, lion's breath, and cooling breath. There are many more, but we will just focus on these three for this class. We will briefly talk about the 4 different types of breathing and which one is the best and how to be mindful breathers. This will aid us in continuing our practice of yoga off the mat. Practicing yoga at home has great benefits! All you will need is a yoga mat, quiet space for about 55 minutes, and your laptop. Please wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move your body freely. You can place your laptop on a table, chair, or floor during class. Wherever is best for you and allows you to see me while I demonstrate each pose and loud enough to hear the instructions. This is a 4-week course and I will give you a rough breakdown of the flow of each class. Week 1- Getting comfortable with yoga basic pose names and breathing Week 2- Practicing those basic poses Week 3- Flowing the poses (meaning we will do a set of poses in a sequence.) This takes the guessing what comes next out of it and allows each participant to relax the mind. Week 4- Fly baby fly!!
