In the class students will develop the ability to understand and communicate in Spanish while playing games and having a ton of fun through reading short stories and class novels. This class is taught in Spanish.
I have been a certified Spanish teacher for the past 25 years. I have a masters in education. I lived and studied in Spain for several years so I have a true Spanish accent (castellano). I have attended CI (comprehensible Input) conferences and implement the CI teaching strategy into my lessons.
Homework Offered
Optional flashcards and authentic articles and videos will be available. There will be minimal work to do outside of class, however, it is highly suggested that families encourage their children to practice the new vocabulary and concepts outside of the classroom. Practicing outside of class will give students the opportunity to relate the class material to their own life and environment which will help cement the new language in their brains.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Informal assessing will be used during class with optional writing and oral exam at the end of the course.Grades Offered
We use the ACTFL proficiency rubrics to determine grades.
One year of Spanish is recommended.
The novels will be utilized during this class. Books can be purchased at Wayside Publishing or Amazon if you would like your own copy. Youtube will be used to show videos. Google slides will be used to deliver class information.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Google Slides/Screensharing- Class will be delivered using Google presentations and screensharing. Conjuguemos- this site will be used to practice verb conjugation Youtube- I use this platform to share educational videos via screensharing. . Quizlet will be used to offer students optional flashcard practice.
