Class Experience

Intermediate Level
In this 10 session intermediate debate program, students will debate a number of engaging topics. They will will develop sound arguments through a comprehensive study of argumentation frameworks. Additionally, they will identify weaknesses in their opponent’s argument through a thoughtful and critical analysis of argumentation theory. Students will learn essential note-taking skills as well as speech skills in this debate club. They will study logical fallacies, and through this intense study of fallacies, students will learn to write clear and persuasive arguments. Each student will clearly articulate his or her position in front of peers; this will enhance self-confidence and develop future leaders.  

Session 1: 

Daily debate topic - Parents should monitor their kid’s computer and phone usage. 


Session 2:

Daily debate topic -  Zoos should be banned.


Session 3:

Daily debate topic - Restaurant indoor dining should remain closed during the pandemic.


Session 4: 

Daily debate topic - Social media is negative for children.


Session 5:

Daily debate topic - Junk food should be banned in schools.


Session 6:

Daily debate topic - Reality television is harming society. 


Session 7:

Daily debate topic - Animal testing should be banned.


Session 8:

Daily debate topic - Parents should be held responsible for their kids' actions. 


Session 9:

Daily debate topic - Children in underprivileged neighborhoods should be given a free college education.


Session 10:

Daily debate topic - Everyone should be required to have a vaccine.

Jacqueline has taught over two thousand students virtually, across 30 countries. 

She graduated from Yale University, the University of Southern California Law School, and is a member of the State Bar of California. Currently, she serves as a Yale Alumni Interviewer and has served as an Ambassador for USC Law School Admissions. Recently, Jacqueline was appointed as a Yale Delegate.

Jacqueline’s research published in the Journal of Health Psychology is ranked as one of their 50 most frequently read articles. At USC Law School, she earned an American Jurisprudence Award. Jacqueline’s legal articles have been published in the California Family Law Monthly and the Los Angeles Daily Journal.

Jacqueline was featured on ABC Eyewitness News and Spectrum News for her teaching. She was a speaker for Jack and Jill and The Third Institute, organizations aimed at inspiring students of color. She taught Kindergarten at Nellis Air Force Base with 100% of her students meeting or exceeding their growth goal on the MAP standardized assessment. 

Jacqueline enjoys teaching critical literary skills to her students.
