In this class, we will discuss how to take a piece of writing all the way through the writing process beginning with an idea and ending with a publication celebration. The format will be similar to the first Writer's Workshop class, but each day we will dive deeper into that day's topic by looking at what real writers do when they write. Students will be encouraged to share their own writing each day and also provide feedback to the other writer's in the class. Starting on Monday we will discuss new strategies to generate ideas for writing by using a variety of graphic organizers. Students will be encouraged to find their favorite graphic organizer for brainstorming ideas. On Tuesday, we will begin creating a rough draft on a topic of interest to each student by using the writing strategy of freewriting. We will also examine different ideas for organizing writing. On Wednesday, we will define what revising is and utilize new strategies to improve writing. We will learn several different revising techniques building on what was learned in the first Writer's Workshop class. On Thursday, we will discover how to edit and proofread writing by using editing symbols and several different strategies to make the process easier for students. Students will then work on their final draft. On Friday, we will bring some special snacks and drinks to class and prepare to celebrate all of our hard work and effort by sharing our work with the class.

Thank you for taking the time to check out my profile! I love learning and I love to inspire kids to get excited about learning! I have a degree in Psychology and I am certified to teach both English and English as a Second Language. I have been teaching for fifteen years. I taught middle school English, Reading, and Creative Writing in the public school system for eight years, and I have been homeschooling my two daughters for eight years. I have been teaching online for four years and I love it! My writing has been featured in Seeing the Everyday magazine.
I strive to make my classroom an inviting, safe, and happy place where all learners can grow. My goal is to offer a well-rounded Language Arts program taught in a fun and encouraging environment. I teach a variety of classes focusing on reading comprehension, writing, poetry, and oral language skills. I also offer one on one tutoring as well. I have something to meet the needs of all types of learners! I even have life skills classes and some fun pet classes where we learn how to care for bunnies, cats, gerbils, and hamsters! I can’t wait to meet your child!
When I am not teaching, I love to read, write, research best practices of teaching, crochet, play board games with my family, and take family vacations to learn more about nature, science, and history. You can often find me reading a book on time management or how to organize and clean your home more effectively! I love learning! Let's learn and have fun together!
