In this one time class, students will be exposed to high quality literature, and learn about different ways to organize their writing. Students will practice improving their own writing skills all in a fun and supportive environment.

Description

Class Experience

In this one time class we will discuss different ways to organize writing depending upon the purpose of the writing.  We will read passages from the picture book Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett together in class. I will also show a brief movie clip of the popular movie based on the book to help  the students to visualize some ideas for their writing. We will notice the way the author organized the book through the use of meals such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We will...

Students will improve their understanding of the six traits of writing: organization and word choice.
