Class Experience

Is your child struggling with paragraph or essay writing? Are they feeling anxious or hesitant about writing? The Four Square Writing Method could be just what they need to find success. During our tutoring sessions, we will focus on developing paragraph or essay writing skills. I will be using the 4 Square Writing Method, a tool designed to help students organize their ideas for writing solid paragraphs or 3-paragraph essays. I can cover various writing genres including narrative, informative, expository, opinion, creative, compare and contrast, etc. To practice what we learn in our sessions, the student will be required to complete independent weekly writing assignments. I will provide written feedback on all the work turned in by the student.

My goal during our sessions is not only to demonstrate to students that writing doesn't have to be a daunting task, but also to build their confidence, which is often half the battle. I aim to create a relaxed, stress-free, yet structured learning environment that reduces the anxiety often associated with writing.

Once a session has been booked, parents should contact me to let me know what they would like their student to work on. Thank you!
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to write either a solid paragraph or 3 paragraph essay depending on which type of writing lesson they select.

I am a licensed elementary school teacher with endorsements in Gifted Education and Teaching Students of Other Languages. With over 20 years of classroom teaching and tutoring experience, my passion lies in gifted education and math. I enjoy discovering new ways to engage students and help them believe that anything is possible. One of my favorite quotes is by Zig Ziglar: "If you can dream it, you can achieve it."

While I have taught many group classes on Outschool, my current focus is on individualized learning in math and writing, as there seems to be a greater need for this. I aim to create a relaxed, low-stress, yet structured learning environment that allows students to build confidence in their ability to learn new things, even if they find it difficult. It's important to remember that tutoring is not just used to catch up on skills, but is also a great tool to help students keep up or get ahead in class.
