Writing: New Year's Celebrations, Plans, Goals
Class Experience
In this one-time class, students will share what they do to bring in the New Year, any plans/goals they might have, and then write a short paragraph about it. I am hoping this exercise allows students the chance think about why a New Year is important; what things do they have to look forward to. - Students will hopefully learn about someone else's New Year traditions as well reflect on their own tradition. After reflecting on what a New Year could bring, they will be able to write their plans/goals into a short paragraph.
I am a certified ELA teacher and taught in the classroom for three years. Beyond ELA specifically, I have over 10 years teaching experience in and outside of the classroom from preschool to high school age. I also have a TESOL certificate, a B.S. in Psychology and an M.A. in Intercultural Studies.
Notebook paper and a writing utensil.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Different students may have different perspectives depending on their family and/or the country/region they come from. Hopefully this can be a learning experience for everyone about how different people celebrate the New Year.
