Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 8
As an online teacher of many years, I have parents that are unsure of how their learner is performing in writing. The purpose of this class is for learners to complete a writing diagnostic assessment in the presence of a teacher that can help assess strengths and areas of opportunity in writing.

I base my assessment on the Common Core standards of writing. Your learner will be assessed in the areas of:

1. Argumentative Writing
2. Expository Writing
3. Narrative Writing
4. Conducting Short Research
5. Producing Clear Writing that is organized and well developed.

Learners may handwrite or complete the assessment digitally. Feedback from the assessment will be given up to 72 hours later with course recommendations. Learners and parents can use the information to create a writing plan that will further strengthen and develop writing skills. Even if a learner does not enroll in one of my courses, the information is valuable in finding a course/tutor to help develop the areas in writing that need improvement.
Learning Goals
Students will become aware of their writing strengths and areas of opportunity to grow as a writer.

Parental Guidance
If a learner chooses to complete the assessment via Google Docs, GoogleDocs does require the use of a gmail account. Please ensure your learner has an account set up. Please Note: You can create a Google Account for your child under 13 (or the applicable age in your country), and manage it using Family Link. With Google Accounts, children get access to Google products like Search, Chrome, and Gmail, and you can set up basic digital ground rules to supervise them.
