1 live meeting
1 in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. While there is no prescribed homework, you should spend time reading and writing outside of class to hone your craft. This way you can bring your work and insights to the group at the next meeting.Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
In this on-going, learner-directed workshop, you will have access to a group of peers who are all on the same writing journey as you. The hour will consist of each student sharing their work with their peers. This can include a direct reading with the document shared to all participants or a more general overview. Each student will have an equal amount of time to discuss their work and seek feedback, if they so wish. If there's a passage you're really excited about, share it! What an exciting life! We will be working in Google Docs so we can share, comment, and suggest ideas on each other's work. You are not required to share your work with anyone but me. Each week will follow the same schedule with any modifications directed by the students in the group.
Learning Goals
Students will know how to write creative, complex, and engaging characters.
Students will know how to write evocative scenes.
Students will know how to structure a story in a compelling way.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
I will closely monitor what stories students are bringing to the table so that no one has a bad reaction to potentially troubling themes, motifs, or descriptions. As a class, we will set lines and veils for what we can and can't handle reading/hearing. If you as a caregiver of a student in the class have your own lines and veils, I encourage you to message me them so I can address anything that might feel troubling for you or your student. Thank you!
