Just as summer's leaves are transitioning into their brilliant autumn hues, writers everywhere are turning over a new leaf and starting new chapters as they embark on their unique writer's journey. Will you be one of them? In this writing-to-match-the-season class, we will discover new ways to incorporate the current season into our writing as we challenge ourselves with a new creative writing prompt which will take different forms each week to keep things interesting! This class is going to inspire you to write stories & poems you may not otherwise think to write and give you ideas to spark your creativity! (You may even find that you like one of your stories so much that you decide to turn it into a book during National Novel Writing Month held every November.) Here is an example lesson plan for this class: Week One: "Choose a Picture": a choice of three photos to choose from as a story prompt. Week Two: "Continue the Story": a written prompt. Week Three: "Choose a Word": a word prompt. Week Four: "A Picture Tells a Thousand Words": a mysterious picture prompt. Week Five: "Add This to Your Story": a prompt using a group of surprise words. Week Six: "Connect the Dots Challenge": three unconnected items given to incorporate in a story. Note: Class prompt themes will be updated every three months to match the current season which means it will be winter inspired prompts from December-February, spring prompts from March to May and so on. (*If you live in a country where the seasons differ from what is listed, such as winter time being June-August please message me so that I can change the prompts to the season where your leaner resides!) Learners may subscribe, pause and unsubscribe to this class as needed. New prompts will always be used each week unless a student requests otherwise. Commonly Asked Questions: Will there be music playing while I write? Depending on your preferences, I can have music prepared to play in the background. Feel free to let me know if you prefer it quiet or if you have a certain kind of music you'd like to listen to. Depending on which prompt we are working on, I've found that background music or even nature sounds can be quite inspiring as it really adds to the creative process! Do I have to write a short story or poem every time? The purpose of this class is to inspire creativity and to let you have fun writing. If you prefer writing a song, a fictional journal entry, or something else creative this is absolutely OK! This is simply a fun class for you to write in a stress free environment and to get the creative juices flowing. What if I don't finish my project in class? There is no pressure to finish the assignment by the end of class. This class is not about grades or finishing things quickly. However, if we end the class and you would still like to finish your story, I will of course still encourage you to finish it before our next class so that you can share with me the awesome story/poem you came up with. I really liked the story I wrote today. Can I continue the same story next week with the new writing prompt? Of course. While the prompts given are meant to inspire a brand new story each week, you are always welcome to continue a story that you would like to explore further. This could be a fun challenge for sure. Don't see a convenient time listed? Feel free to reach out to me with a day/time request! For learners who would like to take this class four days in one week, please see the camp version listed below.

I have been in love with creative writing and story telling since before I even knew how to spell the words! I have been an English teacher and private tutor for several years and I write both fiction and poetry as a hobby. I host creative writing workshops for adults in my spare time because I love encouraging people to add more creativity into their lives. It's a great way to de-stress and I find myself much happier when I get into my "writing zone". I hope to encourage all creative learners to keep writing!
