Other Details

Learning Needs
All learners are welcome in our classes. This class does involve high levels of writing, reading, and editing. Text to speech writing is welcome.
Parental Guidance
In terms of content there is little that students write that will be shocking to me but students should be aware that what they write can follow them and anyone can read or see them. Students may use graphic language or content but I will encourage students to use words and content that is more readily acceptable to a larger and diverse audience. Wattpad stories often contain mature themes, including violence, sexual content, and strong language. Some of the material discussed or read during the course may touch on these themes. Wattpad is a social platform where users can interact through comments, messages, and collaborative projects. There’s a risk of exposure to inappropriate interactions or cyberbullying. Sharing personal information online can be risky. The course will cover the importance of maintaining privacy while using Wattpad. Issues related to copyright and plagiarism can arise when writing and sharing stories online. Writing and receiving feedback on personal stories can be emotionally challenging. Negative comments or criticism can affect a student’s self-esteem. Writing, editing, and engaging with the Wattpad community can be time-consuming, potentially impacting students’ schoolwork and other responsibilities.
Pre-Requisites
Students should love to write, have an open mind, and be open to constructive criticism. Being able to give and receive constructive criticism is the only way to improve writing skills.
