US Grade 8
In this course, students learn how powerful writing can be in the real world. After reviewing parts of speech and sentence structure, learners dive into real-life writing (emails, thank-you notes, recipe, advertisement, making lists) creative writing of an alternate book ending, literary analysis and compare/contrast essays, research presentation and paper, and ending with a personal presentation. The lessons include videos, guided notes, Blooket, online games, and practice activities. For the writing assignments, students get step-by-step instructions, graphic organizers, topic choices and more. Throughout the course students will submit writing assignments for teacher feedback. The instructor will send progress reports on Fridays if work has been completed.
Learning Goals
Students will write effective real-life writing documents using required elements.
Students will use knowledge of essay writing to construct a thesis statement and support using text evidence.
