In this class, we will be covering the creative writing process from brainstorming to editing to a final draft. We will explore how to best use imagery and descriptive language as we develop character traits and vivid settings as well as pacing a plot. The class will be cooperative as we will share ideas and work together while each student creates an individual story to share at the conclusion of the class. This class will be learner driven and outcomes will be unique to each class as the prompts can and will change with each class as the prompts are "chosen" each meeting time. The class will have lots of interaction and sharing of ideas and positive feedback. Each class will be a new experience, new prompts, new characters, etc. Join me to Write On! Each class is learner driven and the topics/prompts will change daily. This class can be taken once or multiple times with no overlap.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature from Sam Houston State University
My name is Malynda Schoppe. I have taught for over 30 years. I have taught every grade level from PK-12, as well as adult ESL classes. I have taught in both private and public schools and in a variety of socio-economic areas and backgrounds. I have also enjoyed every single one of them. I am certified, in Texas, in the following: General Ed EC-8, English 7-12, History 7-12, ESL Supplemental EC-12. I also have Masters of Education work in two fields, Reading Intervention and Curriculum and Instruction. I have coached volleyball, basketball, softball. I have worked with Oral Interpretation and Spoken Word in PSIA competitions and have sponsored both school newspapers and yearbooks. My philosophy behind teaching is kindness. Especially now, we need to remember that our kids found themselves in this world and we need to teach them how to be in it, not expect them to know already. Kindness and empathy will always be the foundation that knowledge and education can build upon. Something fun...I am the proud dog mama of two adorable pit bulls named Jude and Iggy.
