Class Experience

Does your child have an active imagination? Can’t seem to pull them away from movies and tv shows? Maybe there is a storyteller inside them just waiting to get out! This 4-week class meets twice a week for four weeks. Learners with lots to say and loads of imagination will love this class, where they get to write their own screenplay! Learners should have already completed Tell Me a Story.
Young writers will learn how to get their big ideas on the page. The class will teach the practical application of story-building principles, in order to help them develop their storytelling ability. We will begin with the Hero’s Journey, move to building characters, three-act structure, and finally formatting for screenwriting. During our week on formatting, students will learn a little bit of screenwriting history to gain a better understanding of not only how scripts look, but why they look the way they do as well.
