Class Experience

***It is helpful if your learner already knows how to work around Chrome Music Lab, however it is not required. We will have access through Google Classroom.***

For this 4-day camp, learners will learn how to write the Encanto songs “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” and “Surface Pressure” on Chrome Music Lab. Learners will follow along with Ms. Kelsey as we go step-by-step on how to write each song. We will spend two days writing “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” and then the last two days to write “Surface Pressure.” While we write the songs, there are open opportunities to talk about “Encanto” or the songs we are writing if this organically happens. Learners can share their progress with each other if they desire, and can experiment with different styles and instruments if they want.

We will be using Google Classroom to access Chrome Music Lab together. It is recommended that your learner has a computer and either another computer or tablet to write on Chrome Music Lab with in order to follow along on writing the songs. If there is a tablet, I personally recommend that they use the tablet for the meeting, and the computer for writing the songs on Chrome Music Lab as slipping of fingers on a tablet could cause accidental music writing errors during our time together.

Here is the schedule of the camp:

Monday: Intros, 1st part of writing “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” and sharing if there is time at the end.

Tuesday: Finishing writing “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” and sharing if there is time at the end.

Wednesday: 1st part of writing “Surface Pressure,” and sharing if there is time at the end.

Thursday: Finishing writing “Surface Pressure,” and then sharing our final thoughts at the end of our time together.

Parental Guidance
I will be screen-sharing for demonstrating how to write Encanto songs on Chrome Music Lab. Chrome Music Lab is free through Google, and does not require a log-in. However, we will access Chrome Music Lab through Google Classroom; I will offer a classroom code in the Welcome email to access Chrome Music Lab. We will specifically be using Song Maker in class to write the musical notations of each song. Your child will also need to have two computer sources (a computer and either another computer or tablet) to follow along in song writing for class.
Supply List
Two computer sources (one computer for writing music, and either another computer or a tablet for the video meeting).
