US Grade 6 - 9
Creating a literary world from scratch isn't easy; you have to come up with an entire societal structure, government, ecosystem, social balance, and sometimes even laws of physics from square one. In this class, we will discuss tips for how to create a solid setting that will help make your character's journey plausible to your reader. We will look at famous examples of incredible yet believable settings in literature and film and we will analyze how the authors used them to work for their stories. Then we will talk about how to begin the worldbuilding process from scratch, then progress into an in-depth brainstorm to create our own mini-worlds for our stories. (It is okay if you already have a potential setting in mind. You're welcome to use yours or you can practice by creating a new one in this course.)
