Beginner - Intermediate Level
Through discussion of engaging slides plus playing Quizizz and Blooket games, students will demonstrate their understanding of the major causes of WW I. The implications of militarism, alliances, imperialism and militarism will receive special attention as well as the major countries comprising the Allies and Central Powers. Elements of geography will also be included with the use of a European map as well as a Quizizz exercise in which students can demonstrate their ability to identify the major powers involved in World War One.
Learning Goals
Students will collaboratively discuss the origins or causes of WW I and then engage in online Quizizz and Blooket games on the topic.

The content of the class is drawn from a text written by European scholar Robert Massie titled Dreadnought plus his work Romanovs. Other material which was relied upon include Barbara Tuchman's Guns of August plus Alan Brinkley's American History.

Having taught in various Maryland public school settings for close to twenty-eight years, I also gained insight into the learning process through employment with the educational departments of the Baltimore Museum of Industry and Richmond's Valentine museum. In addition to earning a BA degree in History from Susquehanna University, I have an MA from the University of Richmond and even completed an additional "plus thirty" set of course work credits in educational theory.
