Beginner Level
Wordy Workshop provides multi-sensory reading and spelling instruction in a fun and engaging way. Your child will develop a deeper understanding of the speech sounds, syllable types, and spelling patterns that make up the words we speak, read, and spell. Each learner-directed workshop is lively, engaging, and interactive with lots of repetition and opportunities for practice. Your child’s proficiency and excitement for reading will grow, and so will their vocabulary and comprehension! Wordy Workshop’s engaging sessions will teach dyslexic learners and struggling readers the decoding skills they need to become skilled readers - and they’ll think they’re just playing with words! Using online visuals, animations, and tools, Wordy Workshop kids will have many opportunities to: 1. Listen to and identify real and nonsense words 2. Stretch and count the number of phonemes in real and nonsense words 3. Identify the vowel phoneme in a syllable 4. Identify the number of syllables in a word 5. Identify vowel sound by the syllable type 6. Decode words accurately 7. Segment words into their syllable parts 8. Build real and nonsense words using all of the above skills 9. Explore real-time examples of vocabulary words. 10. Develop vocabulary with visuals and sentence building. To participate in Wordy Workshop, we will need parental permission to use the three third-party tools, LearnWorlds, Phonics Hero, Kahoot and WordShark. LearnWorlds is where my course, Lexify, is hosted, and we will visit specific parts of the course that relate to the workshop's 10-part activities above, based on your child's individual needs. Phonics Here is a visually appealing and interactive platform to assist with word building, and Kahoot will be used as an interactive game at the end of the session to practice the skills from the workshop. WordShark is provided for free to children booked for multiple sessions so they can practice in a gamified way at home. Your child will also need a small whiteboard and a whiteboard marker to use during this workshop. This is a 45-minute workshop that meets once. However, you may schedule multiple sessions to keep the momentum of skill-building going! Every workshop is diagnostic and prescriptive and tailored to your child.
Learning Goals
Your child will learn how to decode words and become a skilled and fluent reader with increased comprehension and confidence.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I taught grades 1-4 in Palm Beach County Public Schools for 15 years before becoming a certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist and starting my own practice in 2018. I work with children one-to- one in live Zoom sessions, and I love to see the transformation from struggling reader to skilled reader and witness the confidence and excitement that they express.
