Class Experience

Beginner - Advanced Level
This class focuses on a new vocabulary word each week. We will stick to a MONTHLY theme and the words will be taken from things that YOU love! This MONTH will be Tortured Poets Edition (*SWIFTIE ALERT!*). Each class will take a new vocabulary word that you might not know the meaning of. We will not only learn what the word means, but we will learn where is came from, how to use it, and create our own piece of writing with it. These are quick lessons, but you will walk away learning something fun and new!
Each class I will be introducing a new word and encouraging students to use context clues and think about that word and what it means. Then we will follow that with the exact definition. We will learn the origin of the word after that.
We will end the class taking some time to create our own writing pieces and sharing them out with the group if the students choose to do so.
My teaching style is fun and interactive, but I also respect students when they choose not the participate or share. I will utilize video clips, music, and discussion throughout the lesson.

The words for the next 5 weeks are as follows:

August 26- Precocious (from "I Hate It Here")

September 9- Beguile (from "Peter")

September 16- Asylum (from "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?")

September 23-Bereft (from "How Did It End?")

September 30-Albatross (from "Albatross")
Learning Goals
