Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
Join a fun class that supports beginning reading skills. Building blending skills are essential to reading success! We will cover the word family words each week listed in the plan below. We will meet once per week to introduce the word family, practice, and review during the week.

Class Format:
Welcome and Introductions
Content: The teacher will teach specific concepts during each class. We will practice together, and then students will have an opportunity to practice skills learned in the group. Students will be encouraged to participate, and we will practice taking turns while discussing and working. The teacher will introduce students to word Families through stories and activities focusing on words and blending. We will introduce new words in each class, practice spelling, repeating, beginning writing, and building the words. In addition, we will play word games, brainstorm words, write words, sort, and build words. Finally, we will practice blending and reading.
Closing: We will read a short word family book together in the classroom.

Week 6 - Topic: -in family
Week 7 - Topic: -it family
Week8 - Topic: -ig family

Students will need to have a whiteboard, marker, and an eraser for each class. This class will include fun games and activities to keep students engaged and excited about learning. During class we will play games like matching, BINGO, and others. This class will help your child learn to read. There will be lots of engagement with reading, and writing the words.
