Homework
1 hour per week. Depending on learner need and learning style, students will either complete their work entirely in class or do some of their assignments for homework. If homework is assigned, there will typically be 1-2 assignments per week. All work will be reviewed in class. We will discuss your child's learning plan in detail.Assignments

will assess the student in the first class and then build their upcoming classes based on that information. Homework will help to provide an assessment as to what is needed next for the child. This course is ongoing, so unless we discuss a set number of classes, we will continue to build skills until you decide to end. There will be assignments in each class, so I will evaluate progress week-to-week. Parents are welcome to inquire about progress anytime. I will provide parents with notes or feedback week-to-week. Sometimes, it will be just a few lines of information, but you will be notified as to how they are doing. You will also get copies of their blank and completed worksheets and assignments. I will save a "formal" assessment until the end of our tutoring together. If the parent desires, I will provide a customized "end of course" assessment for their student in their last week of class. This may look like a quiz or performing writing/handwriting.Class Experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 4
Boost your learner's writing skills with a fun, positive, certified writing instructor! My goal is to make your child's learning as fun and relaxed as possible. I will ask you about your child's goals, then I'll use the first class to evaluate your child's skills using standards for their age level. The "evaluation" consists of a relaxed discussion with your child and some fun writing practice through worksheets that I will provide you and your child prior to the first class. I will use that information to create a learning plan for your child. We will do writing exercises or worksheets in each class. I will provide you with any worksheet or writing prompt materials before each class. You may attend for as short or as long as you like, or we can discuss a set number of weeks you would like to attend. Many of my students attend year round! Topics Covered: The specific topics will depend on your child, but may include writing essays using writing organizers, writing paragraphs about a fun topic, completing handwriting practice, combining drawing with dictating and writing paragraphs or sentences, writing simple narratives, writing opinions about a topic or text, practicing writing expository texts, improving writing by revisiting and editing, participating in research to gather information, creating personal or fictional narratives, presenting written information orally, and more. Class Structure: It's a one-on-one tutoring session, where we use worksheets, collaborative exercises, or fun writing prompts to strengthen skills. I incorporate social discussion regarding writing and using our imagination creatively to write pieces. My Teaching Style: I am warm, friendly, and my teaching style is ultimately tailored to your child. I do follow the state of Florida's ELA standards and am on top of Common Core standards. I am also an experienced homeschool educator, collaborative co-op educator, and aware of various teaching styles. With my eclectic and community-driven background, I am passionate about being 100% collaborative with parents and students. If there is something you think your child needs to improve on, please let me know. I want to ensure that we are strengthening any critical areas while addressing the typical English Language Arts and writing standards for this age level. How I Interact: I will send messages to parents through the app, provide attachments to print or setup for your child, I will engage in active discussion with your child throughout the class, and I will offer visuals and audio as they enhance the class and where appropriate. Fun worksheets and ELA/writing games are also part of this one-on-one course.
