In this three-day winter break camp, students will learn all about animals! First Day: Students will learn about the amazing biology of marine animals like the octopus, sea star, shark, jellyfish, and more! Second Day: Students will learn all about venomous and toxic animals like frogs, snakes, and the Komodo dragon. Third Day: In honor of this being a winter camp, the Zoo Camp will end with the biology of animals that thrive in very cold environments. This will include polar bears, orcas, penguins, as well as some cold-loving bacteria! The course is structured as an interactive lecture using slides with discussion and trivia questions. My teaching style is casual and enthusiastic. My goal is for the students to have fun learning about a topic they love! No previous knowledge is necessary for this winter camp.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the anatomy, physiology, and behavior of some of Earth's most amazing creatures.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Outschool Students! I teach biology courses. I have undergraduate degrees in biotechnology and psychology from Penn State University. I also have a masters in education from Johns Hopkins University. This is my seventh year as an educator. I have experience teaching ages 5-18. I believe in experiential, phenomenon-based learning. My brick-and-mortar students have explored the aspects of Earth that allow us to live by designing a dome to keep a human alive on another planet. They have learned to grow microgreens to explore sustainability and what they can do in their own homes. Teaching is my passion! I also love wood-burning, drawing, and creating games for the classroom!
