In this one time class, students will search the landscape to find the polar bears, then work together to solve 4th and 5th grade word problems to complete the riddle and gather up the bears for the Polar Bear Party.
Class experience
This one time Polar Bear themed class will challenge students to solve a variety of math problems, using an escape room format. Students will work together to find Polar Bears hidden around the landscape in order to find the math questions and solve the riddle. They must find all of the Polar Bears and solve the riddle in 30 minutes. I served as a public school educator for over 26 years. During that time, I specialized in science, math, and STEM engineering design, including coding and robotics through after school programs. After leaving the classroom, I was a science and math instructional coach in the largest school district in my state, working to help teachers improve academic achievement in science and math with their students.
