Think you've got a great memory!? Pay close attention to all the items on Teacher Allie's cookie sheet! What's there? What's missing? Can you describe it well? Attention to detail and observation skills are essential for studying. They are difficult concepts, but with social games emphasizing student engagement, students can pick up on these concepts quickly and easily! This class will show students how important it is to pay close attention, look for things out of place, and describe things carefully! We will observe a tray of objects (either physical or in a picture) for 45 seconds (several rounds per class). I will modify the tray in some way, and ask students to participate (both one-by-one and as a group) by making sentences about what they see or don't see. Adjectives will be encouraged! Hilarity might ensue!! Throughout class, I will share memorization strategies, which are great tools for studying! This section is Christmas/winter themed! There are other versions as well :)
Learning Goals
Students will improve their study skills! Students will improve their attention to detail, and build confidence about both their communication and their ability to retain information!

I have been a librarian for over a decade. In this time, I have worked with students of all ages (college to elementary) on their reading, organization, and grammar skills. I have also been teaching English online for the last three years. I have been with VIPKid, an online ESL teaching program, for 3 years, and I have been with Magic Ears (another ESL teaching program) for the last year. In this time, I have learned to elicit total physical response while engaging young learners, teaching curriculum based on learning English as a second language. I have worked in both one-on-one and four-on-one virtual settings. I am comfortable with all ages and larger groups of children.
