Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this fun, one-time class, students will draw a person (themselves, if they wish) from an interesting angle that emphasizes a snowflake landing on the tongue.
A plastic lid, such as one from a sour cream container, is a great tracer for the head, and is encouraged to maximize success.
We will discuss drawing the face from a different angle, not seeing the eyes, what the hair might look like, and how the nose, teeth, ears and tongue look at this angle. We will also discuss winter clothing such as sweaters, coats, scarves, hats and earmuffs, and students will choose what they want their character to wear.
For coloring: it will be important to have a white crayon for the snowflake(s), and either water-base markers or watercolor paint for crayon resist.

As a licensed art teacher, I have developed techniques for breaking down drawing lessons into simple, easy-to-follow steps. Once we get the basics done, I give my students freedom to complete their project using their own imagination, thereby giving them the opportunity to take what I have taught them to a different, fun and creative level.
