Students will use this workshop to understand the essentials of the 5-paragraph essay to execute it for their next assignment. Breaking Down the Prompt Outlining Mastering the 1st Paragraph Supporting with Details There are many ways to improve your writing in middle school and high school, but this workshop will focus on the essential 5-paragraph essay that is often required in schools. Students will learn how to read a question or prompt and pull out what the topic is. They will be introduced to a basic outline structure, as well as how to cover the important 2-3 components in the first paragraph. Finally, they will learn how using details will support their topic and make their paper excel.

I am excited to teach English and Reading classes to your students, as well as creative writing classes and reading book club groups. I love connecting to students to help them discover and grow in their strengths, and assist them in addressing challenges. I love to incorporate creativity, community, and projects in my teaching. I also offer yoga/mindful, exercise, and theatre classes. I have taught English Language Arts and Reading for 15 years, as well as have practiced yoga for 12 years and taught it for a few years. I am a certified teacher for ELA grades 6-12 and a certified Reading Specialist for grades K-12. For fun, I like to kayak, engage in the arts - particularly theatre, and explore the world with friends.
