Turkeys may look a bit strange but they are actually really amazing birds! Join us as we all about these odd birds, where they live, what they eat, and make a fun Thanksgiving turkey craft together! This class is for Wild Tykes (kids ages 3 - 6 years old) and will be loosely structured. I will be leading the class with a few informational slides but there will be plenty of time for discussion, questions, and curiosity. Please have your Wild Tyke Student be extremely careful with scissors during this class and parents are welcome to help (off screen) if needed. Students are also welcome to tear their construction paper if the student is too young to handle scissors. Please bring your craft supplies to class. Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a positive extrovert who enjoys interacting with people of all ages and backgrounds, especially when it helps connect them to the outdoors and wildlife.
My primary class focus will be on nature, wildlife, ecosystems, environmental education, and the outdoors. My goal is to teach and reconnect children and adults to nature in their own community. I strive to cultivate a lifelong love and curiosity of nature and promote more time and connection with the outdoors.
Professional, I have 15+ years experience in environmental and nature-based education and a BS in Wildlife Management from Purdue University. I have held a range of positions, Naturalist and Owner of Wild Within Reach, Natural Resource Interpreter for Hamilton County Parks and Recreation, Mountain Lion Researcher for Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and Paraprofessional for Kindergarten, just to name a few.
I am passionate about increasing outdoor play, accessibility, and cultivating a love of nature. I see the need for structured learning, but I love the flexibility of unstructured and hands-on learning and love to customize programs to the learners' passions.
I reside in Colorado and am a mother of two beautiful, silly, and imaginative daughters and a wife to an amazing husband. I love SCUBA diving, hiking, skiing, and traveling as well as learning all I can about wildlife, nature, and the outdoors!
