Wild About Cooking: Molten Lava Cake & Ice Cream (Ages 9-14)

1 hour per week. In all Wild About Cooking classes, there is homework. Students will be asked to taste test what they make and to clean up their work area.Class Experience
In this one time baking class that is perfect for any chocolate lover, students will learn how to make six molten lava cakes (using a muffin pan) and vanilla ice cream from scratch to share with family and friends. This class will be a combination of PowerPoint, demonstration, and discussion in the Outschool classroom. Students can participate along as the teacher leads them through the steps of the recipe. In addition to learning a new recipe, students will gain confidence and experience in their own kitchen. **Please locate the ingredient list/tool list in the first post in the classroom (Welcome post)**

By enrolling in the class, families take full responsibility for learner safety which includes but is not limited to kitchen safety and ingredient/allergy safety.
Parental guidance may be needed in assisting the student in the kitchen. There is a 4 student minimum in this class. Please share the class with others. If the minimum number is not met within 1 week of the class, the class will either a) pushed back to start at a later date or b) canceled.
In any of the baking classes or classes that require additional cooking time past the class time, the class will end when the item is placed in the oven and the timer is set for the allotted time or the item will finish cooking after the class is over. Students are instructed on how to tell if an item is fully baked/cooked.
Supply List
Students will need high quality chocolate, eggs, powdered sugar, flour, butter, milk, half and half, vanilla and sugar. Ingredient file available upon enrollment in the classroom. Students will need either a stove and small sauce pan or a microwave in addition to an oven as well as measuring spoons, measuring cup, Ziplock type bags, muffin pan and mixing bowls.
