Whimsical Laurel Burch Inspired Cats
In this live class there will be a mini art history lesson about Artist and Designer, Laurel Burch. We will look at some of her "Fantastic Feline" artwork for inspiration and I will guide students through creating their own whimsical cats.

Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this live class there will be a mini art history lesson about Artist and Designer, Laurel Burch. We will take a look at some of her artwork from her "Fantastic Felines" themed line for inspiration. I will guide students step by step through a process to create their own whimsical cats. There will be supporting visuals, and it will be an interactive class where students can ask questions as needed and I will provide individual feedback.
Learning Goals
Students will use color, line, shape and pattern to create their artwork.
They will also be making connections to an artist and bring what they learn into their own art pieces.

Learning Needs
There is lots of room for using individual ideas to make each piece of artwork unique, while supporting anyone who needs more structure. I will have visuals students can use and have experience working with Special Needs students.

Supply List: Paper - around 5 pieces (for sketching and a final piece) Pencil and eraser Pencil sharpener A Sharpie or black marker (optional) Something to add color - your choice...colored pencils, markers, crayons etc.

Teacher expertise and credentials
My undergraduate degree is in Art Therapy and I have a Masters in Education. I have been an Art Teacher for over 20 years and have taught in MA, CT, CA, VT and NH. I recently completed another 15 graduate level credit hours in Studio Art Classes in Graphic Arts, Fiber Arts, Drawing, Watercolor Painting and Printmaking.
