Students will engage in class and interact with the other classmates and with the teacher. There will be a presentation that the students will interact with to help solve one and two step word problems about the graphs. We will spend time looking at five main types of charts and graphs and solve word problems based on their data: Frequency and Number Tables (Class 1) Pictographs (Class 2) Bar Graphs (Class 3) Dot Plots (Class 4) By the end of the class session students will know how to analyze a word problem centered around a chart or graph and use it's data to solve one and two step word problems.

I have been in the elementary classroom for 16 years and for the past 10 years I have specialized in teaching math to elementary age students. I have learned that many students get overwhelmed when looking at math problems and immediately they begin to shut down and tune out the information. I have found that when teaching students to take math one step at a time and to analyze the information in the problems, that they can solve them easily.
My passion is teaching kiddos that math does not have to be overwhelming, but that we can find a way to embrace and love the challenge that math brings to our daily life. Reviews
