Class Experience

In this one-time class lead by an autistic adult, autistic students will get to share what being autistic means to them.

This class promotes a positive view of autism but will also give students a chance to share some of their struggles with being autistic as well as sharing the things they like about themselves because of being autistic.

I require that all students know that they are autistic. An official diagnosis is not required.

This is a discussion-style class and I will lead the discussion with a series of questions that all the students will get a chance to answer.
Questions may include:
How old were you when you found out you were autistic?
How did you feel when you found out?
What are some of the great things about you that you think are because of being autistic?
What is something that you struggle with because of being autistic?
Do you think you would still be the same person if you were not autistic?
What is a common trait of autism that you think would make the world a better place if everyone had that trait?

This class is inclusive, meaning autistics of all abilities are welcome. If your student needs any accommodations please let me know and we will work together to ensure they have the best possible class experience.
