Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
In our class we will be talking about what words "need"; we will talk about other things we "need" to use them properly (i.e. cars need tires). I will use props to help students guess what is needed and then we will begin talking about vowels. Students will learn to say the vowels and identify when they see them. We will have fun doing activities where students can use actions and their voices to say when they see the vowels. We will also look at words and students will have fun identifying words that are written correctly. Students will have an opportunity to respond with their classmates and on their own to my questions. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions of their classmates.

Learning Goals

Students will be able to say the vowels and identify when they see them written.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
I look forward to meeting your child and having lots of fun learning together!
