Class Experience

US Grade 4
All learners are welcome to join our "Gaming Math" class. This class was designed for learners who have a passion for gaming and want to learn Fourth Grade Math. This class is perfect for learners in the fourth grade or transitioning from third-grade math to fourth-grade math. This class can also be used as an extra math review to enrich learners' math skills.

What will your learner experience in class? Your learner will experience a hype, fun learner environment from one an experienced teacher. During our time together in class will follow the Eureka Math Curriculum, in which students will have access to all materials (PDF) via the classroom section on Outschool. Each class's learners will be given a code to access digital interactive materials on NearPod. NearPod allows us, teachers, to gauge your learner's Math scores. Our theme on NearPod will surround around gaming through math. Many students love NearPod as a form of competition with their classmates and peers.

What will class look like? At the beginning of class, we will complete a math question of the day, usually a review from a previous lesson or a previous grade level. We will then move into our math topic of the day; we'll spend about 20-35 minutes learning materials. The teacher will model, we will then try as a group, and finally, everyone will be able to practice math problems independently through NearPod. We will end class by implementing our math concepts into a Roblox game.

What game will be played in class? We will play games within the Roblox world. Everyone will be given access to a private server that'll be provided at the beginning of class. It is important to note that your learners may have to share their Roblox username with their classmates enrolled in this class section.

Each week in class, we will play a different game. At the beginning of the day, a poll will be posted in the classroom for learners to vote on the game of the day. The majority vote wins. Learners can vote within the student section of the classroom; this allows learners to vote anonymously.

Supply list: Your learner must have access to a printer to print the class materials. Everyone should attend class with worksheets, a
notebook/fold (to keep their work together), and a pencil.
